New Registration Scheme for engineers in NSW
The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) are supporting a NSW bill that would enforce the requirement for all engineers to be registered.
The Professional Engineers Registration Bill 2019, was introduced to NSW Parliament in October last year, which follow the recent design and construction failures of Sydney Olympic Parks Opal Tower and Mascot Towers in South Sydney.
This Bill brings NSW to par with Queensland and Victorian schemes moving toward better regulated standards. “An effective and reliable registration scheme will help improve integrity and confidence in the sector, which is what the community is calling,” Committee Chairman Alex Greenwich said.
